Basic Denmark Itinerary with Kids (Ages 3–8)

When friends visit us in Aarhus and ask for a week-long Denmark itinerary with kids, here’s what I usually suggest. It’s flexible, realistic, and assumes a little downtime.

Day 1: Arrive in Copenhagen – explore Nyhavn and grab waffles at Reffen

Day 2: Tivoli Gardens + LEGO store + chill evening

Day 3: Experimentarium or Aquarium + park

Day 4: Train to Odense – check out the H.C. Andersen museum and cozy cafés

Day 5: Travel to Aarhus – sunset walk at Salling Rooftop

Day 6: Dokk1 play zone + Den Gamle By (living history museum)

Day 7: Explore Aarhus harbor or take a lazy beach day before heading home

This is just a basic itinery built to not overwhelm you or your kids.  Sometimes basic is best: our most fun days often involve a park, a coloring book, and ice cream.
